Hamilton Spectator – Commissioner Cavoukian’s Op-Ed – “Privacy laws are not to blame”

I read an article in Thursday’s Hamilton Spectator that criticized our Ontario privacy laws, questioning how they have improved our lives. As the Information and Privacy Commissioner for Ontario, part of my mandate is to educate and inform the public on matters of access and privacy, so I feel compelled to respond.

I have spent two decades as a privacy professional, and while I am not shocked at the rough ride that privacy laws often receive in the press, I am continually disappointed. Read Full Response.
