Institution/HIC The Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto
Summary

The Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto (the Municipality) received a request under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the Act) for access to any records relating to the involvement of the Metropolitan Toronto Department of Ambulance Services in an incident in which the body of an individual was discovered in an apartment.

The Municipality denied access to the record in its entirety pursuant to section 14(1), 14(2)(f), and 14(3)(a) of the Act, on the basis that the disclosure of the record would constitute an unjustified invasion of the personal privacy of the deceased. The requester appealed the Municipality's decision.

The record was obtained and reviewed by the Appeals Officer.
