Grade 11/12 Guide

This Office provides an active outreach program to help increase the awareness and understanding of two very important public values: open government and protection of privacy. As part of this program, we have developed two comprehensive resource guides for teachers: Grade 10 and Grade 11/12.

The guides provide an opportunity for students and teachers to discuss why access to government-held information and protection of privacy are important public values, and how they are relevant to our lives.

Courses

The lessons included in these two resource guides were created to assist teachers in meeting the expectations of the following courses:
Civics, Grade 10, Open;
Media Studies, Grade 11, Open;
Canadian Politics and Citizenship, Grade 11, Open;
Understanding Canadian Law, Grade 11, University/College Preparation; and
Canadian and International Law, Grade 12, University Preparation.

The guides are consistent with the course profiles funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

NEW: Privacy by Design Lesson

Help students develop an understanding of how design can reflect values, and give them an opportunity to consider how privacy – an important social value – can be designed into the technologies, processes and physical things that surround them.
