Industry Leaders Show Way Forward for Privacy in Smart Grid Report to be Released at DistribuTECH Conference

Summary Ontario Information and Privacy Commissioner, Dr. Ann Cavoukian, along with partners Hydro One, GE, IBM and Telvent, will release a highly-anticipated report next Wednesday that shows the way forward for utilities working to embed privacy into the emerging Smart Grid. The report will be released at DistribuTECH – a major Smart Grid conference staged in San Diego.

The new guidance document, which is based on a cutting-edge Smart Grid pilot project in Owen Sound in Ontario, Canada, is the first of its kind, demonstrating how the principles of Privacy by Design – the gold standard for privacy – can be operationalized as a foundational requirement in Smart Grid systems."
