The IPC’s February 28, 2007 letter to the Toronto Police Service Board: commends the Board for its leadership role in pursuing a comprehensive public debate on the subject of its development of a new records destruction policy regarding fingerprints, photographs and “records of disposition” associated with non conviction dispositions; cautions the Board against adopting a policy proposed by police; encloses detailed Submissions on the newly proposed policy, as well as recommendations in the form of a Record Handling Blueprint ; and highlights the IPC’s concerns about related “reference check” and vulnerable persons screening” programs for future discussion.
