Submissions from the IPC on the Toronto Police Service Board’s Review of a Proposed Policy regarding the “Destruction of Adult Fingerprints, Photographs and Records of Disposition”

Summary

The IPC’s Submissions consider the role of police policies, recall recent developments (including those that led to the Board’s policy reform efforts), set out and discuss the key elements of the proposed policy, and make recommendations that provide a Record Handling Blueprint that would protect fundamental rights and allow for the appropriate retention of non-conviction disposition records.
