Eric Ward is Assistant Commissioner, Strategic Initiatives and External Relations with the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

Eric recently joined the IPC from the Government of Canada where his career spanned law, policy, management, and strategic foresight. Eric practiced privacy and information law as counsel to Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, and also as Senior Counsel at the Department of Justice’s Centre for Information and Privacy Law. Eric also directed the machinery of government and legal operations teams at the Privy Council Office. Immediately prior to joining the IPC, Eric was the Senior Director at Policy Horizons Canada, the federal government’s centre for strategic foresight. Eric holds degrees in civil and common law from McGill University.
