Right to Know Week
Access to information is everybody’s business.
Freedom of information is essential to democracy, providing citizens with insight into how their governments are operating.
Access to government records can help you gain a better understanding of government decision-making and the policies and issues that are important to you.
You have a right to know!
From Monday, September 25, to Sunday, October 1, organizations across Canada will be celebrating Right to Know Week to raise awareness of access rights and freedom of information. On Thursday, September 28, more than 40 countries and 60 non-governmental organizations around the world will celebrate Right to Know Day.
The IPC will be kicking off Right to Know Week with an information booth at the Word on the Street Toronto book and magazine festival. If you’re at Harbourfront on Sunday, September 24, come see us with your questions about access! We’ll also be sharing information throughout the week on our social media channels. Like, re-tweet and share to raise awareness of the importance of access rights.
