Twice a year, I take the opportunity to visit a different community as part of the IPC’s Reaching Out to Ontario program. These visits give me, and the IPC executive team, a chance to update those working in the public service and health sectors − as well as the public − on emerging access and privacy issues in Ontario.
It’s tremendously gratifying for me to be able to talk with our stakeholders, hear some of their challenges and answer questions about Ontario’s access and privacy laws face-to-face.
In the past two years, the IPC team has visited Hamilton, London, Windsor and Thunder Bay and on November 23, we’re heading to Barrie. At this free event at Georgian College, we’ll examine matters related to access to information, some recent IPC decisions and changes to legislation.
Our panel presentations will also cover a variety of topics ranging from smart cities, video surveillance, and the implications of the new Child, Youth and Family Services Act, to mandatory health breach reporting and more.
