Mark your calendars!
On December 6, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) will hold a webinar on information sharing practices at situation tables.
A situation table involves representatives from government institutions and the health sector meeting to identify and address situations that raise significant concerns about local community safety. When the members of a situation table meet, personal information may be shared for the purpose of reducing harm or victimization, sometimes without the individual’s consent. While this practice may help to ensure safer, stronger communities, it comes with risks to personal privacy.
Our office is committed to helping situation tables comply with privacy requirements and best practices. In the spirit of collaboration, the IPC is pleased to host a webinar about how community partners can work together to reduce harm, while respecting the personal privacy of individuals.
The IPC cordially invites you to join Commissioner Brian Beamish and other IPC experts to learn:
• How situation tables members can collaborate in a privacy protective manner
• What are the key features of a privacy protective information sharing roadmap
• How does that roadmap work within a four-filter approach
A Q&A session will follow this webinar presentation.
We hope you will be able to be a part of this very important discussion.
Date: December 6, 2016
Time: 11a.m. – 12 p.m.
A presentation will be followed by an interactive question and answer session.
